Fox Harvard has added a photo to the pool:Copyright © 2010, Fox Harvard, All Rights Reserved***If interested, please feel free to email me for information on the book***In an age where growing up in America guarantees one an almost prescribed and seemingly congenital exposure to sexually charged imagery, the influence of the erotic on our individual and collective sexuality is undeniable.Whether it be mediocre product advertising or outright exploitation, the ever-present erotic and provocative has irrevocably changed the method and manner in which we express & consume. Television is saturated with shows rewarding the unaccomplished and talentless with ready-made, icon-level celebrity status simply based on their sexuality. The internet is a virtual library of sexual imagery where the statistical majority of its use (and its commerce) is simply for the trade of pornography. Even in everyday routine one can hardly even clothe themselves, in any form, without the sexual influence of flash & flaunt. And yet, to the seemingly blind, the current generation's ponderous sexual clout is somehow still shocking. In reality it's nothing more than a new spin on the proverbial cycle of we-desire-what-we're-fed, and in turn, we-create-what-we-desire. So the way in which their sexuality is so readily prevalent and their comfort with allowing it to either express or define a portion of their individuality (more so than previous generations) should come as no surprise. From the temptations offered by biblical garden snakes to those offered by MTV's high-def pubescent pop-stars, the way with which we act--and react--in a sexual context is in a perpetual state of evolution; so much so, that by the time one has attempted to understand it--much less define it with words or pictures--it's changed yet again. I'm not sure what the consensus on this would be but I think it's rare to encounter any piece of erotica that doesn't look or read slightly dated, often in concept as well (even "post-modern" work, by its very conception, is based upon preconceived notions or ideas). Perhaps it's that very challenge that makes the task of trying to capture it so entertaining.Apfelmusik is intended to be a hodgepodge of the images created of said generation, from my more recent work. Over the last year spent shooting it I simply wanted to capture and exhibit the individual sexual presence of each person as it existed (or at least as I saw it). When shooting each model I wasn't trying to be conscientiously artistic; I was merely recording the passion or sexuality of each person in their immediate environment (with some degree of playfulness, to be sure). And though while shooting I tried to avoid most of the banal clichés of nude & erotic photography, by paying little attention to specific style or genre, some of the final product actually came off as being quite indicative of fashion & editorial work; particularly due to the theatricality of the model's chosen poses. Each model was encouraged to pick the concept they wanted to do along with choosing key bits of the shoot, from their outfits, to choosing how to pose (or not to). Though the colors and tones were carefully chosen in post-processing, contrary to how some of the work may appear, most shots are of extremely spontaneous moments without being too mindful of instruction or rules. To be honest, there is no rhyme or reason as to how the pictures here are arranged--I simply wanted a compilation of random frames from different shoots that, as a whole, communicated something similar. And while some might appear overly familiar from page to page, I felt each one had something special that differentiated and compelled it enough to be included.I must say that I'm not sure much here encroaches on art with a capitol "A"--as I didn't want to feel pretentious shooting them--but I think many are respectively poignant and impressive in their ability to stir emotion after the fact.Enjoy,FH

This girl wore some sundresses, a little black dress such as this one, and two tanktops with denim jean shorts. She really has a beautiful smile and a great figure and long legs and pink toe nails and finger nails. All in all, she is ready for summer and I particularly like to create new pictures in the summertime. Here, I am struck by her big, gorgeous blue eyes and her long legs and barefoot plus the contrast of the elegant, little black dress in comparison to the outdoors as well as her perfect figure. I think she is good enough to work with again in the future. Please let me know what you think about this new photo. Do you like this shot???If you like this model, you may also like Amy. Ikon Visuals posted a photo: 6th installment in my Rock & Roll Fantasy collection, came up with this as I was thinking of home and a good friend in particular "Jim Degrasso" who played drums for Megadeath, Suicidal Tendencies, Lita Ford, White Lion and is now the drummer for Alice Cooper, but he was also for a number of years the drummer for Y&T, who were big on the west coast of the US but practically unknown on the east, except for 1 hit, "Summertime Girls". So this goes out to Jim "Rock on dude!" and although I'm based in Singapore, all the summertime girls in the US (although I gave this a California/Hawaii/Florida feel, could be asia too, or anywhere in the tropics). PhotoAmateur1 posted a photo: 6/30/2010: I orchestrated a glamour photoshoot with a young blonde woman named Tara. This girl has a nice personality and looks gorgeous. She took my direction well and acted in a professional manner as my beautiful model and was a good looking subject. I captured her in many poses and portraits with my Canon camera. She wore several colorful tanktop shirts and two pairs of blue denim jean shorts that exposed her great, long legs and butt. She also sported a little black dress. Her face and particularly her steel blue eyes are captured in some of my shots on my photostream. I really liked the style of this university student. The location of this photosession was a historical downtown district in a small town. She posed in front of several old walls and some of the walls were painted unique colors that provide a different, creative look to some of my compositions. The girl also posed in a green tanktop and flipflops in front of a wall of ivy and vegetation. Elsewhere, she posed upon the concrete floor of an outdoor stage and on and around railroad tracks and an old, red train caboose. In some of my pictures, Tara is smiling, and she looks serious, though always sexy, in others. An old, rusty fire escape is utilized for some of the pictures, and a bench and picnic table are used in others. The weather was steamy hot, and the sun was shining during most of the stylish, outdoors shoot. I really enjoy the summer months, and this late June afternoon was really enjoyable as was this fashion shoot. Please let me know what you think by commenting on this photo and giving me your feedback. Do you like this picture? If so, why?????One thing I'd like to be is more creative in my portraits. I think this would be improved through different manipulations in the color of my compositions. For example, I could adjust the saturation and exposure and contrast settings through photoshop or Picnic, and I could do more work in black and white. Otherwise, I could develop more elaborate, stylish themes for my photo sessions. If you can think of an interesting, clever idea for a fun theme, please comment on this picture and tell me your thought because I would love to hear it. Sometimes, I feel worried that my amateur photo shoots are going to fall into a rut as I do roughly the same thing. I would like my photography to evolve into something special with fresh, new energy that people really like. On the other hand, I am still very much new and have pltny to learn. I'm not ashamed of this fact because I am not a professional photographer. I do this as a fun hobby that I would like to take to the next level. We as humans have developed a series of what we call "normal" beahviours just because we see them again and again. War, patriotism, religion, are just some that come to mind. I was interviewed for Magic Places Fine Art on-line photography magazine. I invite you to read the article.View the video A Rainy Day with Milena by sollangYou can purchase work by Sol Lang here.
Ferenc Berko: Bombay, 1941Vintage gelatin silver print, 11 7/8 x 9 13/16 inchesFerenc Berkó (1916-2000) is part of long tradition of Hungarian émigré photographers, which includes Brassaï, Robert Capa, André Kertész, László Moholy-Nagy and Martin Munkásci. Influenced by some of the great Bauhaus teachers at a young age, Berko explored numerous genres and various styles. Within every period of his career, his work was concurrent with the artistic developments of the time. This is the first exhibition from Berko’s estate and is a partial survey of his black and white work from the 1930s through the early 1950s. Subsequent shows will highlight his innovations in color and his deep interest in nature.Ferenc Berko was born to a Jewish family in Hungary in 1916. Following his mother’s death in 1921, Berko moved with his father and his sister to Dresden, Germany. At the age of twelve, with his father’s health deteriorating, Berko was adopted by a family in Berlin. His foster parents gave Berko his first camera and encouraged his creative pursuits. His foster mother, in particular, was a patron of the arts and many well respected modernist figures at the time, like Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, and László Moholy-Nagy, would often visit their home. Berko was especially influenced by Moholy-Nagy, who became a friend and mentor. In 1933, with the growth of anti-Semitism in Germany, Berko was sent to England to finish his studies in philosophy. While in London, he became active in the photography and film circles and met Emil Otto Hoppé, who became a mentor. Following school, Berko moved to Paris where he continued to collaborate with his wife Mirte on a series of nude photographs. In 1937 he made a trip back to Hungary and photographed Jews in Budapest. In 1938, with Nazi influence on the rise, Berko moved to India to become a filmmaker. Beyond learning cinematography, he experimented with the photographic process, creating photograms as well as prints with multiple negatives, while at the same time continuing his passion for investigating the world through an eye for beauty and form.Moholy-Nagy invited Berko to teach photography and film at the New Bauhaus, the Institute of Design in Chicago. Unfortunately, Moholy-Nagy died just before Berko arrived in 1947. Berko’s work in Chicago focused on the abstraction of the urban landscape, continuing his interest in modernism, while developing work that had a direct dialogue with the current developments of Abstract Expressionism. In 1948, the Berkos’ close friend in Chicago, Walter Paepcke, an industrialist and patron of the Institute of Design, invited them to visit Aspen in hopes they would make it home. Initially, the Berkos turned down the offer and returned to London in hopes of regaining their former life. Dismayed with post war London, Berko moved to Aspen in 1949 as the official photographer for the Goethe Bicentennial and then the Aspen Institute and Aspen Music Festival and School. In Aspen, Berko’s visual and intellectual palettes were nourished; he had finally found a place where he felt both respected and inspired.Berko’s work has been collected by the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris; Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; International Center of Photography, New York; Musée d’Elysée, Lausanne; Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and Museum Ludwig, Cologne. Near the end of his life, “60 Years of Photography: The Discovering Eye” (Edition Stemmle, 1995) and “Berko: Photographs” (Graphis, 1999) were published.Gitterman Gallery170 East 75th Street10021 New York, NYwww.gittermangallery.comSource.
